Morning, Went for a swim last night. Did an hour. Was quite hard getting back into it but it was also much better than I thought it was going to be! I am going to try to get at least 1 or 2 swims in a week now. I know I will never be the fastest swimmer but I would like to step out of the water with some energy left! Am going to use a different pool though as every stupid person in Denmark seems to want to use that pool! There were people swimming all over the place, some randomly stopping and chatting! it says "fast lane" for a reason so get out and chat somewhere else!!!!!!! Does my head in as there is lots of other areas they could go to chill in.
Cycled to work today and will be going for a good bike ride this afternoon with a guy from work who is a 1 time Ironman and very decent cyclist...quite nervous really. All my cycling has been on my own so I have no idea how I will find it...I will post and I will be honest! The great thing is that the sun is out and my bike looks super shiny :)

  1. Good work on the weekend cycle Johan - headwinds can be a real killer! Are the winds like that in august? What kind of sets were you doing in the pool?

    Keep up the good work!

  4. Hi B,

If you had asked me a few weeks ago I would have said that its really isnt that windy here, but now I would have to say that its been a little windy for weeks! Went for a blast last night of 60k and again it got quite blustery. The good news though is that I cycled half the bike course (1 loop) and there is plenty of cover from the wind in a few places and also as its 2 loops you do get a tail wind too! I will be working on my profile position though as it makes such a big difference. I think it gives me an extra 5kph into the wind.
The swim usually takes the form of a 1k warm up at easy pace then a few 200 meter slightly faster pace then 100m faster etc etc until I am doing 25m flat out. Then Ill try to cool off with maybe 500m at the end...all that said, last time was just 500m warm up, 5 * 200m then 5 * 100m. Then I was spent!
Have you got a blog? if so let me know what it is.

  6. Aha now I know who you are! Its just that 'B' doesn't give much away! :)
Good work on the training and the blog. I check it out most days and its always nice to know there others out there doing just the same mad stuff!
I wouldnt worry about the wind etc as its a nice ride. One thing I would do though is put some very hard wearing tyres on. If there is any water on the road there will be lots of punctures. I have just put gator skins on and they seem strong enough. I had been using TUFO tubulars but they shredded with all the little tiny raxor sharp flint stones on the road. Puncturing is what I am most worried about as I have had soooo many here now. When its dry and warm it doesnt seem to be such an issue.
Stay injury free and keep up the training. See you in August!
